Hey,
I am learning about SEO and curious to know how everything works, sepecially SEO.

I have seen different opinion online, where some says to start with keyword SEO research before writing anything while others suggest to focus on writing quality content first and optimize later.

It is a bit confusing to understand what actually works in practice.

Is keyword research really necessary before starting blog or can just start with writing and improve SEO later?

Starting with keyword research helps guide topics , but it is not strictly necessary before writing. Many people write first and then optimize for SEO after. What matters most is useful , well-written content that can be adjusted with keywords later.

Absolutely yes.

Without doing keyword research means going on a path without light.

You should have knowledge about Ahref, Semrush and Mox.

Isn't best to do ahead, once a thing is necessary?

Keyword research is helpful before writing because it shows what people are searching for. But you can also start with quality content and optimize later. Best approach is to do both together.

Why choose one between the two? With a proper keyword research you can write even more optimized content.
Remember, search intent is one of the primary pillars of SEO. And only keyword research will help you understand that.

Both approaches works, but doing keyword research first gives your content direction and higher chances of ranking while optimisation later is harder and less reliable.

Do basic keyword research first to know what people actually search then write quality content guessing first and fixing later is slower and riskier.

No, but doing keyword research helps you pick topics people are actually searching for, so your blog can grow faster.

Keyword research isn’t about chasing keywords it’s about understanding what people are actually searching for. Starting with research gives you direction, avoids wasted effort, and helps you target topics with real demand. You can write first and optimize later, but it’s usually less efficient. A balanced approach works best: use research for clarity, then write naturally for users

Keyword research is important but not always mandatory before starting. You can begin by creating quality content based on your expertise and audience interests, then optimize with keyword insights later.

Keyword research isn't optional if you want consistent results-it tells you what people are actually searching for and helps you avoid writing content no one finds. That said, quality content still matters; rankings won't stick without it. In practice, the best approach is to do basic keyword research first, then write naturally around it. You can always refine and optimize later, but starting without direction usually slows growth.

In my opinion, keyword research beforehand is something you should do. It helps identify the right user needs and avoids writing great content that nobody searches for. Then, naturally integrate keywords into your quality articles to optimize rankings. This will be much more effective.

I say do some keyword research first it is like knowing what people are searching for, otherwise you are just guesing and traffic will be hard to get.

Keyword research first is usually better it helps you write content people are actually searching for on Google But you can also start writing, then optimize later expect slower or less targeted traffic

Both methods are perfectly fine, but actually doing keyword research first will definitely save you a lot of wasted effort in the long run.

Imaginative first without any research means you might end up creating content that no one is searching for or that doesn't align with the search intent. Keyword research equips you with the knowledge of what people really want, how tough the competition is, and how to make your content stand out from the very beginning. At the same time, you shouldn't make it too complicated just pick easy topics with little competition, then concentrate on writing informative content.
So really the right order is: simple keyword research quality writing further optimisation.

Absolutely, it really helps because without it you may write on topics no one search. Just do simple keyword check so your blog has chance to get traffic.

Starting a blog without keyword research is like joining a college without deciding what to study. You need extensive niche research, keyword research, content schedule, and marketing strategy before starting your blog.

it helps a lot, because you know what people are actually searching for. Without it you might write content that gets no traffic.
