Hey BHW,
I’ve decided to start this thread because I genuinely need external accountability. I have a bad habit of building things, getting close to the finish line, then getting distracted by the next shiny idea. Posting here is my way of putting a stake in the ground publicly.
So here’s where I am.

What I’ve built so far
I’ve been working on a SaaS tool for business owners. The core idea is simple: this tool runs their business.
I’m roughly 70% done with the MVP.

Why I’m posting this
Because I’ve been “almost done” for longer than I’d like to admit.
The product works. I’ve tested it myself dozens of times. The problem is I keep finding reasons to add one more feature, fix one more edge case, polish one more thing before showing it to real users. Classic founder trap and I know it.
A few weeks ago I had a long honest conversation with myself — the kind where you stop lying about how productive you’ve been — and I realised I’m not stuck on the building. I’m stalling on the selling. The idea of showing this to real customers and having them say “this isn’t for me” is scarier than another week of building in private.
So this thread exists to make that avoidance impossible. If I don’t post an update showing real customer conversations in 2 weeks (that’s on 14th May), I’ve publicly failed. That matters to me more than I thought it would.

The goal
First paying customer within 14 days from today.
Not a free trial user. Not someone who said “this looks interesting.” A real person who has given me real money because the product solves a real problem for them.
My plan to get there:
1. Finish the remaining features this week — hard stop, no scope creep
2. Go out physically and demo the product to real business owners face to face
3. Post in relevant online communities where my target customers hang out
4. Record a short demo video showing the product working in real time and share it on social media
5. Leverage my personal network for warm introductions to potential customers
Pricing is decided. Landing page is mostly done. Payment collection is set up. There’s genuinely nothing left to figure out. Just execution.

What I’ll update you on
I’ll post weekly at minimum — probably more often when things get interesting. I’ll share the real numbers, the real conversations, the rejections, the wins. No vanity metrics, no “I had a great week of learning” posts when nothing actually happened.
If you’re building something too, feel free to follow along or share your own journey below. Accountability threads work better with company.
Let’s get it.

Journey starts on 1st May, so by 14th May I should have my first paying customer.

I hate reading AI generated threads but I hope you succeed in your journey

It was not entirely generated by AI but enhanced by it, writing is one of my weaknesses please forgive and I promise to not do it again

I know this feeling well, Selling is scary. Making friends is not. That’s how it became easier for me to get in conversations with people. At the end people do business with people the product is important too don’t get me wrong but the person behind the product is even more important when you try to start a business, other owners have to like you! Also I would start getting into conversations right now! No more building, you already have build enough. Go talk with people Get their perspectives, guide them through the product, ask their opinion and make notes as soon as you can after conversations because maybe you have to iterate on the product. Also Get very clear about your ideal target. Even tho it could be for different type of businesses just focus on one type of business It will save you tons of time and talks. Good luck to you.

Chào bạn, chủ đề của bạn rất thú vị và được trình bày rất tốt. Mình đang theo dõi xem khi nào bạn có khách hàng đầu tiên. Chúc bạn may mắn!

Good luck on the journey :) I will take a guess that the product is somewhat vibecoded and just say to make sure you double check how the client data is stored etc
