Hey everyone,

I am just starting out with blogging and honestly choosing a niche feels more confusing than I expected.

I have seen people suggest going for passion, while others say focus on low competition and monetization first. Right now I am stuck between a few ideas and not sure what’s the right approach.

For those who have already started, how did you pick your niche in the beginning? Did you follow data or just go with interest?

What worked for me was mixing both—pick something I’m interested in, but also check if there’s low competition keywords and some monetization options.
Pure passion didn’t work, and pure data felt boring. A balance made it easier to stay consistent .

I started by listing topics I’m interested in, then used tools to check search demand and competition. After that, I wrote a few test articles for each niche to see which one shows good signals (traffic, engagement, and long-term sustainability) before committing to it.

Thats true. Even for the expert one as well. As a beginner I would suggest you something that inspires you and attracts you most. You need to choose something that doesn't remind you of time.
 
Pick something you like, then check if people search for it. Interest + demand works best, and it's easier to stay consistent.
 
From my experience, start with something you actually enjoy, but sanity-check with demand and monetization. Pick 2–3 niche ideas, do quick keyword checks and map out a small content pillar for each. Publish a few posts to test traction; if one shows steady traffic and engagement, run with it. Don’t chase every new trend—consistency matters more than flashy ideas.

Check out google trends, pick a niche that you like, do keyword research and write about it.
 
I also want to start blogging so please let me know that best tips for blogging.
 
Don’t overthink it.

Pick something you’re at least interested in, but also check if people are actually searching for it. Passion alone isn’t enough, and pure data without interest gets boring fast.

What worked for me was choosing a niche with decent search volume and then going a bit narrower instead of going too broad.

You can always adjust later, so just start and learn as you go.
 
You need to spend tens of hours every week going through content, so it's better to find something you're passionate or knowledgeable about. If you pick a random niche, you might get bored of it. Once you have a broad niche, find sites, keywords, micro niches, etc. for a better understanding and identify low risk high reward opportunities.

I looked for topics with questions people keep asking, so content ideas don't run out.
 
Going purely off passion usually leads to zero traffic because big sites already dominate the most popular topics.
You need to find a weird middle ground where you like the subject enough to write 50 articles, but there are still plenty of low-competition keywords left to grab.
If you can easily find simple questions to answer and obvious affiliate products to promote, run with that idea.
 
I choose a niche where I can consistently create content, not just something trending. it made it easier to stay regular and not run out of ideas after a few posts.
