Welcome to my journey of developing an Android automation bot for Instagram’s Mother-Slave (M/S) Method, I’ve been manually growing my clients’ Instagram accounts and brands using the M/S method. However, after exploring the market for an automation bot that could simplify and automate this process, I found that most existing solutions were not only difficult to learn but also lacked the specific features I needed.
Why Build a Custom Bot?
Most automation bots for Instagram fall short when it comes to advanced needs like the M/S method. Some of the key limitations I encountered included:
1. Remote Management: I’d like to manage Android phones remotely through a dashboard, rather than relying on a single laptop.
2. Battery Efficiency: I’m looking for alternatives to ADB for automation, as it tends to drain my phone’s battery and affect its overall health.
3. Enhanced Features: The bot should support features like uploading and watching reels, which can make a significant difference.
4. Compatibility: It should be compatible with the latest versions of Instagram, not just older ones.
5. Cost-Effective Solutions: Alternatives like app cloners are expensive and cumbersome, so I’m aiming for a more efficient approach.
6. Simplified Onboarding: The onboarding process for many existing tools is overly complex, with difficult installations and confusing documentation. I believe this is because the niche is still relatively new and research-based, with few people truly understanding it.
Given these challenges, I’ve decided to build my own bot from the ground up.
This blog will focus on the technical process of building the bot, not on testing the M/S strategy itself, as it's a well-established growth hacking method that has been effective for at least four years. Why Android Over Browser Automation?
The M/S method involves managing multiple child accounts to boost a single mother account. Automating this process using browser-based tools or API-driven bots isn't effective, as Instagram’s algorithm is highly sophisticated and quickly flags suspicious activity, leading to account blocks.
The problem isn’t with the M/S strategy itself, but rather with the data leaks from browser automation and API-based bots—such as fingerprints and proxy integration—that result in account bans. My solution is to use multiple Android devices to manage numerous child accounts. Each Android device can run up to 25-50 Instagram apps, and using mobile proxies or SIM data offers a superior approach compared to residential proxies. I’ll dive deeper into why mobile proxies are better in a future post.

1. List Features: Identify all the features needed to automate the M/S strategy.
2. Start Development: Begin coding and building the bot with the outlined features.
3. Testing: Test the bot on my agency’s accounts and clients’ brands.
4. Evaluate Market Fit: Determine whether the product is ready for the market and scalable based on feedback from the community. Additionally, I plan to explore automating other social media platforms once this proves successful.
5. Launch: If it proves to be effective and enhances my M/S strategy, I’ll consider opening a sales thread in the marketplace once the project is complete.
I’m also passionate about deep work, productivity, and self-improvement, and I’ll occasionally share insights on these topics. I hope to discuss routines and strategies that could improve our work and lives.
