Wow really? Why is that? I've read some people spend hundreds (maybe even thousands?) on expired or auctioned domains so why would they do that if it did not work?

I've done some PR before and it is not easy... here at least. It means creating a relationship which is difficult to do with cynical journos or having the book of editors/journos so you know how to contact etc. They 100% don't accept payment.
