I topped up 10$ to use on the monthly service. I've tried it a few times and when I used it, it worked for that stream only. It did not work the second, third, fourth, etc. tl;dr monthly service only works once and until they fix this I wouldn't recommend.

More of a me thing, but I have hearing issues so captions improve the watching experience for me and be able to understand what's being said. But I don't know if it "boost" views or increase our certain demographic further.

I personally use Stacher. It's so much easier than running yt-dlp itself, unless you're a neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrddddddddd For real though highly recommend.
