Wondering how many of us translate blogs posts. I don't, because I can be quite lazy and some browsers translate on demand. Is it worth it to start? Is it a lot of effort or is there some sort of magic plugin to make it happen in the background?

Unless you genuinely do have dynamic content, i.e. it changes on every page view or e-commerce, just use a cgi cache, exclude the backend and invalidate when you add new content. PHP won't run at all after serving the first instance of a page and you'll effectively have a dynamically generated...
