The best way is to earn them slowly. That way they will be more likely to retweet your tweets, they actually like what you are putting out there and are familiar with it!

I think it happens if you follow a lot of people in a short period of time. Wait for a day or so and try again!

Now you have a base I would recommend finding some niche and posting regular tweets around that. Post stuff that people will retweet and favourite. That way, word of mouth will exponentially grow your channel!
