I was a Betfair Affiliate for a while and would recommend them. Could also try Bet365 as I imagine they pay quite well due to the fact they spend huge amounts on TV ad's. Failing that, Paddy Power are worth a look too and they have decent specials.

Not sure how you can tar everyone with the same brush but I agree that many are not worth the money. If you find one that is, you can stand to save a lot of time and frustration and that is potentially worth a lot of money if it stops you from quitting 3 months down the line.

Depends on keyword obviously but if you've chosen a keyword that is achievable within your skill set then 6 weeks for page 1 and 12 weeks for top 3 is my usual speed. These are medium competitive terms without EMD's.
