I don't think it has anything to do with the fact it's a .info domain. Try adding more content and backlinks and you should get back to the SERPs soon.

I personally wouldn't pay someone $5k for a domain if it is a .biz one and if you aren't 100% sure it's a good pick. As you stated, you are after tourism and other keywords, as well. I recommend you buy national domains rather than a general .biz. Just my two cents.
