I came to know that there was an instagram purge last night and many people lost thousands and millions of followers. It is painful see the numbers drop down like that. I just lost around 150 but my instagram web version and mobile version shows different numbers. Does it happen to anyone else?

You're not alone. Everyone is facing decrease in reach and engagement. Probably IG is working on making the game harder. For some, the likes has disappeared, for some the post is deleted and others have steep decrease in engagement.
