i think wordpress (self hosted) is better choice than blogger. As blogger generally is not your own blog its of google. And at wordpress customization and flexibility is very good. Also blogger platform sites doesnt looks good.

hi, i think first bof all you have to decide in which niche you are good and you know more. if you have any niche in which you have better knowledge that you can share then go for it. And if you can provide good content then adsense is all yours. :)
