No need, it may even work against your needs. The idea is to disguise your actual link and not to make it apparent through nofollowing authority links.

The best way is to not do it at all, Google might figure out its you doing it and penalize you. You know they are watching you and can read your intentions pretty well. Don't mess with Google man. Its like trying to move to the 11th floor in a building by demolishing those below it.

Yes you could safely repurpose your domains.

Checking them out, but public blog networks tend to be at higher risk of being de-indexed.
