imho it depends: if you are a small acc and try to grow, it will be not so easy these days without ads. but i dont think that they would dare to try and force big accounts like 1 Million+ follower sports/music stars etc. to buy ads.

I don't think that the majority of the 1 million biggest accounts will hide their likes. I think (organic) likes will stay an important factor for the algorithm, enabling the option to hide them is just eyewash. Instagram wants so show that they want to take care about psychological issues and...

im not an expert in this but hiding doesn't mean removing. you can opt for hiding but i dont think that hiding will give you any benefit or disadvantage. Instagram will still keep the likes as a part of the algorithm.
