It just seems like overkill for most of the functionality an ecommerce plugin offers I would not be using. I have discovered custom fields after a little bit of searching. Maybe a plugin that allows the user filter products via that meta data is the way to go..

Google will always say that more quality content wins over anything. In the long game this is obviously true if your producing a load of quality content then natural authority back links will follow as a result

Ok thanks, the skyscraper method sounds good. And finding a good niche is hard, I can't imagine being able to find one where I'm going to have knowledge on the subject and make a profit

Here in the UK we only get taxed after earning over around 10k (this is rising this year to about 11.5k I believe) which is a 20% tax up to 32k and then its 40%
