Been playing around with this today, but i kept noticing my iphone keeps being identified as a bot and then gets blocked.. is the bot list too strict? Also mobile visitors using chrome, might get proxied thru google proxy "speed" up service as well and that gets listed as bad..
the guy is probably being whacked enough without having everyone bombard him with emails. He has a mailing list hopefully he will notify everyone via that what the deal is
the htaccess part, put it in your apache config.. its quicker there than htaccess, + you can easily apply to all domains.. thats if u use a dedicated server of course :)
they only need a small sample of data from toolbar / back buttons etc to get some good statistics, and im guessing at google they have some pretty good statistical mathematicians there to put some algorithm together :)
