If you get involved with facebook or anything like that then you need to take into account that at some point your account could be banned for whatever reason. Nothing lasts forever and you can't put all your eggs into one basket!

The best way to make money from a blog is to obviously get traffic to your blog. Then figure out what the people's needs and wants are and try to fulfill them by finding affiliate products, cpa offers etc.

If the goal is to get traffic then you must use as many methods as possible. Relying on just Youtube or something else is not enough. The more methods you use for generating traffic the better. You might need to spend a lot of time to build an online presence on forums and social media sites but...

I think I have to agree with that. You can't just make any conclusion based on one site. For some reason certain sites never take off while some others do.
