yes that's exactly it, post 1 was ranking #1, the post wasn't ranking at all for the keyword (I didn't want it to anyways) then post 1 disappeared, but post 2 started ranking #11 for that keyword a month later it switched back to how it was originally with post 1 ranking #1 and 2nd post...

Honestly I get that, but for my page to be ranked 2nd and then a site with my content rewritten to rank instead of it I don't believe it's Google dance.

OK this is my scenario.. I have a website that is about 2 months old. I generally write one or two posts a week. Some of the posts are rewritten from content that is on the Internet some are not. I always make sure to rewrite any content scrapped and make it 90% unique. Posts start to rank...

It has 2000 words of content..it is rewritten content, but not sure that makes a difference. If it still ranks for the "product or product" Maybe the keyword "product vs product" appears ro many times?
