RANDOM TIPS ! Lets help each other :)

Subject: Aging Tip: When you get to be my age, a couple things to remember. 1: Never waste a hard on. 2: Never trust a fart. *note* I'm not that old. But the joke wouldn't have sounded right.

    Need help with WP Installation

Probably because prior install was using .htaccess rewrite rules for permalinks. Do this: make sure your .htaccess is writeable then go into the permalinks section of wp-admin and save changes. That will try to rewrite the rules to the .htaccess file.

    Need help with WP Installation

Create a new database, then use phpmyadmin to import the sql dump into it. Change the connection details in the wp config file to point to the new database and voila. Don't forget to have a db user with proper permissions on that db, of course.

    Divorced Dads/Moms

I'm a divorced dad myself, same situation almost. I drive two hours every other weekend to get them, pay a boatload in child support, and have to deal with the baggage whenever she feels like going off the rocker for whatever reason. Usually happens about once a year, gets pissed at me for...

    Stupid Noob Question

Google has said, openly (take it for what you want), that there isn't a "duplicate content penalty" per say. But, if they see a bunch of sites with the same content - rather than ranking them all, they often pick which page(s) are the most relevant (IE posted content first, most trustrank or has...

    WP 3.0 Coming March 1

Looks like good stuff, but honestly I worry that Wordpress is getting too bloated. Merging Mu into with standard Wp along with integrating new features (that used to require plugins) might make it more convenient for a power user - but for so many people it's getting complicated. I've switched...

    How To Change WHOIS Info?

You have to give your real name and address, else you risk losing the domain if someone files a complaint that it's false information. You can pay extra for private/proxy registration at most registrars though. As for changing the registration info, you do that from the control panel wherever...

I have 100 Digg account and 100 stumbleupon account

Good point, they're gonna catch on if you vote/submit with any kind of frequency without using multiple IP's. And then, if they're ALL using a proxy that's fairly easy to detect as well if they put any effort into it.

    Key-word-word-word.org ?? Should i just Forget about it ?

Keyword domains are great when they're the exact keyword, but dashes are soo two years ago. Most of the SEO authorities are suggesting that it's not that important, well I think it's important but I also think most would agree that multiple-dashes-in-the-domain-name throws the spam probability...

How do comments effect SEO ?

Comments are a good thing, so long as they're relevant to your topic. They're especially useful if you don't have alot of content in your actual post. I'd imagine, being a movie blog, you're probably not posting 400 word articles. I'd keep the comments, making sure to moderate out the ones that...

I finally figured out how to get listed in DMOZ

I'll help him out... become an editor of a small category with few edits or listings. It's easy to get approved for these, impossible to get approved for a larger category as a new editor. Then, submit your websites to your editor bookmarks, then "move" them to the category where you want them...

    Comment on blogs, new trick?

That's what most everyone else does. Yes, it's a backlink (though usually nofollow). With that being said, leaving comments in that manner (generic responses with keywords as your name) have a very low approval rate by blog admins.
