Creating forum profiles on related niche forums and posting is what I've done before, it works great. Not only do you get some usually high PR backlinks, but you'll see some traffic too, just put the backlink in the signature.

I definitely agree that it looks a little medical. It's a cool concept but maybe a little long? Also, I find most products with a video right in the middle of my face have more of an impact. ;)
