Make each profile you are using the admin of the event and try to just add a few hundred at a time. This works for me but cannot seem to get passed 6 or 7000 invites..cheers

This happened to me 2 years ago with a profile for a local bar which had 5000 friends also. I got it back by fighting with fb n got it back even though it wasn't a fan page and should have been. It was hacked again then I couldn't get it back FB deleted it.
