No, it was never monetized, thus my issues. I have other monetized channels and I had never experienced this before

Just the thumbnails, the content itself is usually clean (although the really old videos might have been a bit suggestive but still, the guidelines I got were on quite normal uploads with no lewd thumbnail or content whatsoever).

I do have multiple ones, however this is the only channel from the same niche where I managed to get a "late-views" type of recommendations and I can't re-create the same boosting pattern on other channels unfortunately.
