I agree with OP. There is a time to research, but it doesn't have to be too long. Learning by doing it is the second step after researching.

I think that blogger deletes blogs wich are spam. So it depends on the content you put on those sites to keep them alive. Of course this kind of threads is about testing, so if everything works OK that's a win for you, or else you will discover one way it doesn't work.

When it comes to autoblogs you don't have to spend too much on them. Just some automated links and watch what blogs perform better. This is a matter of get as much as you can from them from free google traffic, from really long long tail keywords, without investing too much on them.
