A friend of mine said someone gave it to him. I'm not all that educated in this area but I realize it could be registered to someone else. Is there a way to look THAT up? I assume give it to the rightful owner than let it go to waste

I was given an iphone 7 and am unable to get past the activation page. I've tried all the YouTube 'solutions' but find myself with a nice phone I cannot use aparently. Is there a way to resolve this issue?
