There are a few known bugs with yoast causing issues with sitemaps. I am 99% certain that the issue was caused by yoast. Soon as I installed Google XML sitemaps and re submitted, all of my rankings came back. Literally within 5 mins.

Yeah to be honest I made these changes by accident, therefore didn't realise they where "no idexed" till I had a look through my search console. That's why my initial thought was a potential algo update. Yeah you are correct! I should of left well alone! :(:(:(
