I would imagine it is because Google hasn't crawled your site recently enough for the changes to take effect. If you log into Webmasters and submit the link directly to the sitemap then Google might crawl it quicker.

To be honest, if you setup that URL and then automatically redirect it to your homepage, it is not going to carry any real weight as Google won't have ranked it well to begin with. Is the targeted keyword a product name or something? I'm assuming you've at least got the desired KW in your title...
