So weird...
I have a keyword for which I rank very nicely in the following countries:
1. Lithuania
2. Singapore
3. Romania
4. Hong Kong
5. Morocco/Nigeria etc
But in the US version of Google, I rank #18 . I've not deliberately targeted any of the above countries, my site information is global in nature...
I understand what you're saying. But how do you maintain your rank for the old keyword "xxx yyy 2019" after you've made the changes to your content? Now you'll start ranking for the new keyword, but won't you fall in the SERPs for the old one that you used to previously rank well for?
Let's say right now I rank #1 for the following keyword:
"xxx yyy 2019"
And my page title contains "xxx yyy 2019"
When the year changes to 2020, I change my title to:
"xxx yyy 2020"
