Well, I saw a few websites also did this and they're still ok now. And, to be honest those link are cheap...
My budget doesn't allow me to buy many good backlinks from high Domain rating site :((
I just started to build a new site for my brand. I think I will start with a lot of profile and social media backlink. Then, after a month or 2 I will by a round 100-1000 backlink (but most of the backlink quality is not great - usually redirect link).

For me, my strategy is to focus on at least 1-2% keyword density with more related keywords, more sub keywords to help the algorithm learn about my website and what I'm trying to sale easier.
Is it ok if I maintain a 3% keyword density in all of my article and service pages?

Btw how to you guys are sure that your site has been hit by the spam update? Does a sudden drop in the site performance without doing anything wrong before the update is enough?
