Agreed just type small seo tools plagiarism checker into google. You're only allowed to do like 20 searches a day but if you open an inprivate tab or a new browser you can carry on

Share the website on Google+, submit to Google and get a handful of branded backlinks. Always works for me! In a month you should be up there.

I wouldn't touch forum footer links. They just scream spam. Feel free to post a link or two in a forum thread though if it's related. Do a search on Google for "your keyword" "forum" and see what comes up.

Not quite related but if you're reporting back to clients use Toggl to track your time and publish the report. It helps them see the work you put in during the early little-change stages of a campaign.
