Yep as others have stated it does work still. Definitely still have to do everything else for it to help. These days IF YOU DON'T do it....it won't hurt. If you do it, it will help. Slightly. But then again every little bit helps as they say.

Social always matters nowadays tbh. Have you tried joining FB groups within your niche or maybe groups that have people that would maybe be interested in your products? Have you checked your competitors social signals?Followed their followers, and so on and so forth. Like someone else said...

Good thread. To those that say it cant be done, don't be frustrated that it hasn't happened for you yet. IMO the OP hasn't tried to sell any type of system or anything like that and seems very genuine in his post. My advice for the OP is to save your money and create additional revenue streams...
