Even without a bot if you use Instagram on a computer you wouldn't be touching a screen. I think they only detect bots through timing. If people do actions too quickly or go over daily limits they get bans or suspensions. Or doing certain actions from different IP addresses on the same account...

I haven't had any issues so far, I use it to follow and unfollow on 1 Instagram account at the moment so maybe the complaints are about features of the program that I don't use.
