Initially I was targeting too competitive keywords, so when I realised this, I moved onto using the keyword golden ratio (not sure if you have heard of it), but basically it is a calculation to find really low competition keywords.

Yes, onpage is fine - I am quite particular about this. No ... not thought of an audit actually - any recommendations? Yes Amazon links are also fine, I just have no traffic to my site in order for people to even click the links :D
