I joined 200+ groups in less than 30 mins and I got no ban. Whatsapp bans you only when you spend MASS spam.

Also, please note that only contacts who have added you to their phone's address book will receive your broadcast message so whatever OP talking about the broadcast feature is BS.

Gary Vaynerchuk (Gary V) is huge on using wattsup for marketing, he says it is heavily undervalued and I must that myself I still don't see it as a strong avenue for IM.
