Alive Check in ScrapeBox Not Reliable

Hello guys,

I am sure you have tried hundreds of times to scrap expired Tumblrs. The problem is that after using "alive test" to filter the once we can register, there is a huge number of properties, giving "try something else, this one is registered..." or something.

I have to try each and every one by myself to find some good expired blogs to register.

Any ideas to overcome that?

I've seen that on other checks and it did my heading. I suggest you slow down on threads/delays and use private/reliable proxies.

Afterwards, take the list and run it through the link checker (put the list in Blogs list) and for Websites, enter the text "try something else, this one is registered" or whatever it was.
Now, the ones that did NOT match are the ones that are available.

Your just using the wrong/inefficient tool for the job. The vanity name checker was built for this very purpose and is more flexibly then just an alive check.

Alive check won't work in ALL possible cases, it really depends what exactly you are testing!

I tried to really slow down on threads. Had better results I thing, but again a lot of hand work. More than 80% where not available when I was trying to register them. Didn't find a setting to reduce delay.

I tried with vanity checker with 1 thread per private proxie and a good amount of delay. Same results...

can you be more specific? What isn't working?

The vanity checker is fully customizeable, so if tumblr has changed since the last scrapebox update, just update the markers that tell the vanity checker what is valid and what is not. That doesn't mean it will know if its registerable or not, but it can get you as close as possible.

also further is that Tumblr is VERY hard these days to find good expired domains as its so possible, so bear that going in.

I am trying to find a way to know if a Tumblr property is registrable before I come to the registration page. There where you have to manually get the names one by one to see if they are available to register.

It is easy to find if a Tumblr blog is down with Scrapebox. I know that it cannot "see" behind the walls, but with some tweaks (like lowering threads) it gives more accurate results. So Im not in the middle of tumblr hunting, but does tumblr list any markers on a page that would show that its not registerable?

Because basically scrapebox can only scan for data and process that and give you info back. So if tumblr has a "this page is not available and also not available to register" statement or html or something on the page that indicates that its not available to register, then you can tweak the vanity name checker for that to tell you.


But if a non registerable page and a registerable page look identical, then no program on earth can tell you if its registerable or not, unless it tries to register for you and then gets the error message. Given that nothing in scrapebox will register for you, its up to you to see if there is any markers in the page, and if so then its easy enough to tweak the page. But if not then unfortunately you would either need a program that auto registered on tumblr or to do it yourself, or pay a VA to do it etc..

Man, this is what we are searching for. I have it running already, to test it. It is VERY very slow, but I think it is no harm to let it run all day long (it does not have proxies or something). I will come back with more info.

glad I could help dude, try the "EXPIRED 2.0 FINDER" and use the tumblr option (does the same live check also) and it supports proxies for faster scraping

UPDATE: I compared two page sources. Both were 404, but only one was registrable. They had 100% same code. The secret is hidden somewhere else...

I have a friend who had the same problem, its something on Tumblrs backend where they give the same page/code for two different types of accounts. Some can be registered and some can't.

There is an alternative software (mentioned before), but so far ScrapeBox method is way faster than that.
