It happens on a daily basis where someone (usually a noob) bumps an old thread from years ago when it would be better to make a start a new one, so why not create a warning on all old inactive threads to help reduce this?

Maybe something like this that I found on another forum, I can still reply but it does let you know that it's a dead thread.

I'd say it's worth seeing if it can be implemented. A lot of members that necrobump claim that they didn't notice the date, so this could help with that.

warning should also add - if you bump this old thread just to add [ thanks ]
an infraction can be issued.

It shoudnt be too

Maybe, but the people that try to boost their post counts will just spam somewhere else, at least this way they are far easier to spot & deal with.

maybe build in some kind of allert system that tells mods
when old threads being spammed with 1/2 words posts if thats
even do-able

But what's classified as an "old" thread?

But what's classified as an "old" thread?

an old thread is something thats say 3-5 years old
its common new members will bump old threads to lift there
post count by posting nothing more than [ thanks ] on very old
threads.

a perfect example of a dead thread (from fucking '08) being bumped with a useless comment.

But what's classified as an "old" thread?
I'd say any thread over 8 months or so from its last reply that hasn't been replied to should get a pop-up warning of its age, so then threads that are over that time but still get regular input are not dead and dont need the pop-up.

reason for 8 months is:
6 months isnt really that long.
12 months is too long and a thread is definitely dead by then.

I think it'd be better (and easier) for "old" threads to get automatically "closed for replies" in that case
