How does the 8 years and no tax scheme work ?

I actually currently work in a school with my wife so I am not sure about the tax scheme as they cover all that. We love it here! It is beautiful and nature everywhere. We live in small rural town named Montezuma, look it up!

What I can tell you is that Costa Rica does have it's flaws. People here tend to live in a bit of illegality always, more than I am use to. Wether it is evading taxes, not having a driver's license or not being a legal resident. Once you get use to that it is all Pura Vida! (pure life as they like to say). Totally worth coming and considering as a life option, just wanted to point out that it isn't all fun and games. If you would like some tips I would be happy to share!

We almost moved to Thailand 2 years back but the civil unrest there made it a little off putting. The visa runs were being clamped down on too, plus you can't own outright a business out there, so we kicked that into touch for now and moved to Spain.

I'm at that age in life where I am less tolerant of idiots, bad drivers, scammers etc and tend to speak my mind so as we live rural ourselves, it's bliss here with the laid back life, cheaper cost of living and 320+ days of sun.

Provided we can get good internet, plenty sunshine and a relaxed way of life to kick back on, we're open at anywhere so Costa Rica is worth considering. My partner has just been approached about a job offer to move to Thailand, they're building the offices etc starting next month, there'll be 4 villas for the 4 senior staff and the project should be ready to go in 2018, so that is an option once again and this would be all legit with visa requirements ( IF we decide it's what we want ).

Sounds to me like you would love Costa Rica! Although the internet can be a challenge at times, fast internet is definitely available.

We also looked into Thailand before Costa Rica. The food alone will get me to part of the world one day!
