Hi

Been working my head around redoing my site today and trying to get a proper silo structure sorted out. Just wanted to ask a very quick question (Mods sorry if this is the wrong section).

In Wordpress should you set the home page as the parent page to all your Main Topic Silo Pages? (See attached file)

if you talk about backlrnking you can do all the links to the main page but it looks more natural if you backlink subpages as well ...

Yes ... this is what I would do to build "physical" silos.

You could also build "logical" silos by just linking pages the right way - and not setting parent pages.

This is where I was getting a little confused. Thanks. Yeah, I am setting up a physical silo but also contextual links in each page to link the pages in each topic also, in a way creating a physical and logical silo.

When I go to edit the permalink for another page, with the parent as the homepage lets call this page xyz, it's showing the homepage title but I don't want it to show anything if you get what I am saying. So I would like the permalink to be www.SITENAME.com/pageXYZ Do you know how to fix this.

Even physical silos need pages to be interlinked. You would want to interlink pages within a silo with each other wherever relevant.

When you are creating the page xyz, make your homepage the parent page of xyz. That should work just fine.

All sorted now thanks. I downloaded a permalink editor. Got my basic silo setup and interlinking pages.
