Just wanted to put out a friendly warning to any newer folks here who wouldn't know any better... Hostgator's shared hosting is just awful. I can't stress it enough honestly. My sites score at 96 to 100 for pagespeed and yslow on gtmetrix and I still have without exaggeration 10 to 12 second load times with this particular host. I have no idea who I will replace them with but for damn sure I am going replace them and soon. But you know, honestly it's okay that their servers are terrible but what pissed me off enough to make this thread was when I asked their support for help they basically just kept repeating that everything was fine in one of the most condescending customer service interactions I have ever had the displeasure of being on the receiving end of.

Rant Over.

And so are all their related hosting companies like blue host and just host

it sucks since it was sold to another company
change your host

Try and avoid mainstream websites that sell website / vps hosting. Newer and upcoming websites need to keep their prices competitive to afford to keep their website up and to keep sales up. there should be a few threads on here selling reseller web hosting that are fast and cheap. I wouldn't pay more than $3 a month for reseller hosting

Clearly they are overselling. Lucky they don't get to kick people out like United does.

EIG companies are the worst companies to pick hosting for. Isnt hostgator a rule on here that you cant talk about them? *Yea they are that bad. lol

I'll just leave this list here and slowly walk away....

dude, you can try siteground. even their cheapest plan can get you to <1 sec page load time with caching

Hostgator is beyond bad. And honestly, most of them as listed above. I worked on a client's Hostgator site a few months ago and it took almost 24 hours for their server caches to clear. It was like working in 1998.

Also, I wouldn't go with Network Solutions or 1&1 either: equally bad.

And as I said recently in one related thread, head over to BHW marketplace and check out for yourself, there are for sure about half a dozen solid shared hosting providers and you can pick one that suites your needs best.

Alternately you can check Low end box, the website. They always have excellent hosting plans for super cheap. I snapped up a few myself.

I have a hosting account with a seller in the marketplace. I pay $5 a month for reseller hosting. Never had one problem out of them. Excellent customer service.

Shared hosting - Unlimited everything for 1 penny

Sure, why not!
