Hi everyone.
Some guy in my skype group personally message me and ask me to check out this link.
I did checked it out with my phone, and i realise the link he gave me was redirected to another website(which have the story he asked me to read). I thought there was nothing wrong and i read it
He then messaged me with a screenshot of my ip address, my location and my isp.
Help do you think he can do anything with this? sigh

No. He only know your location and IP that's it. I suggest you to use VPN. You can get some under $2 per month :)

it may be a scam, try no to click on links you do not know or people you do not trust because it may infect your device and there's a chance they could steal your passwords.

Hey nothing will happen.. just blocked him and ignore him.. even if they try to add you from another id blocked that as well.

Well if you have not done anything wrong... why should get scared. cheers.

Potentially he could use the info but chances are that he doesn't know how.
Make sure your firewall is active on both the router and computer, change the router admin credentials from the default.
If your router uses Dynamic IP's then just restart it.

EDIT: Sorry you said phone, I wouldn't worry too much, check your security settings

He's probably only using statcounter.com or some other tracking service for IP/location/came from.

I doubt you have anything to worry about.

there is many ip tracker which will cough your ip address if you visit the link.
and if he is cleaver enough to use a rat like "dark comet" and your phone security is low he can hack your phone or computer :)

Some link can force a Trojan ( also called Trojan Horse) into your system and take control. It can be done by a mid-level hacker. A pro hacker can do a lot worse. I suggest you reset your router and reinstall your operating system. You never know what he's planning on the sly.

To be clear. For most home users he has your routers IP.

At the very least make sure you have changed your routers admin password (eg see mirai botnet recently).

Other than that you are behind a NAT so tell him to fuck off skiddy.

I only click it through my phone, and the link went to phone safari. It's okay its a spare phone so iguess its alright.

Yea, learnt my lesson. I clicked it on my phone though. Do you think it will get affected?

Thank you, I did just that. Well I did had some beef with the guy actually. Haha didn't wanted to JV with him and some others and somesort got into an arguement.

Thank you. I'm still not sure if my IP is dynamic or not. I did however, reset my router by switching it on and off a few times but my ip address still stays the same

Thank you BTB! :) I somehow feel I'm just being scared for no reason.

Thank you! Does MCafee firewall prevents this?

I clicked the link on my spare phone so I guess I be fine right? Only afraid if it will affect my desktop.

Still wonder how do I change my router admin password. I currently only using the password which is at the back of the router.

UPDATE.

Hello guys. Today, I turn on my laptop as per normal and somehow I found my internet connection was super super slow.
I'm using a gaming laptop and usually it's super fast and it's weird because my computer kind of lags when im on the wifi and not on my mobile data.
And I find it weird if it's possible for anyone to disturb my wifi connections when I click the link on my phone and not any of my computers.

Being wary though, I download an app on my iphone to check wifi connection list.
I found two weird connections which I never seen before and 1 of it was called WFAdevice and another one had no host name.
i googled WFA deivce and I guess it's somehow linked to my router so i did not do anything about it.
I find the other connection weird as it has no hostname and I counted the device in my household and it is the only extra one.
I check my connection on fast.com and it was like at 1mbs+ (lol).

I then went type in my ip on my com browser and went to frewall configuration and DMZ and it states the connection interface is a LAN whereas the rs of my connections in my household is a wifi 2.4g.
I then went to mac filtering and tried my luck in filtering it and checked my internet speed connection and it is not at 16mbs.

Is this just a coincidence or is that connection really causing problems for me?

I think you are just pessimistic.

I have an online live chat in my site.... I see all customers landing on my site (IP, Location, Country, Bla Bla). If you click my site now i will tell you all the information he told you.
For me i see this as normal

If you're on Chrome, have you checked your settings to see that there is just you logged in?

He's just bragging that he got your IP, if by any chance he knows how to use such info he wouldn't have told you !

Google it. Its usually quite simple and its something everyone should do. Failing that post your router and model number here and someone might help.
Do you have a dynamic public IP? Reset your router and hopefully you get another public IP.

What was the mac address?

This is a very good point.

1. Why would he want to hack you? Do you really have anything of value?
2. It's very easy to get someones IP if they click your link. This information is public lol it's just some dude trolling you...
