I know usually its not easy to trust Flippa sellers but how much value one should give to the websites which are being chosen by the editors usually there are only 10-12 such websites over there I am not sure in how much depth they go to make sure that everything is legit. Would be nice to have some opinions about it.

I've seen an "editor choice" website there not so long ago, which was listed for $50k and stated that the monthly revenue is $50k. Who would sell a real website for 1 month revenue only? And it came with a fb page with 500.000 people. Engagement on the posts were like 10-15 like. So don't trust the editor's picks there, do your own research about the site.

I wouldn't trust any editor choice sites on there. I recently came across one which was a Aliexpress/Shopify dropshipping site. The numbers (I think) were legit, but the site was basically selling counterfeit NHL/MLB/NBA/NFL merchandise. The owner wanted 100k for the site, but the bidding didn't get anywhere near this.

I've reported so many sites on Flippa that I've now given up. The staff don't care about scam sites or dodgy listing.

You must've misunderstood the claimed revenue. What you probably saw was the starting bid of 50K but that's not meaning that it's the price the seller is willing to let it sell for as the reserve price I'm sure was much higher.

The usual valuations of well established sites should be something like 15-20x monthly revenue. It's always a red alert when you see someone trying to sell a site for a low multiple of monthly revenue.

maybe I did, but the site was fake as hell.

Well Flippa do make offer to sellers to get 'Editors Choice' for a higher % commission of final sale!
