Hi! Can you tell me the name of the book?I read an amazing book about link building
It's an italian book called "Link building. Aumenta l'autorevolezza del tuo sito". Check it out on Amazon.it if you're interested, is written by Ivano Di Biasi a friend of mine.Hi! Can you tell me the name of the book?
I think it would be a little bit hard to read it in italian for me, but thanks! It's an italian book called "Link building. Aumenta l'autorevolezza del tuo sito". Check it out on Amazon.it if you're interested, is written by Ivano Di Biasi a friend of mine.
I'm building do follow and nofollow links with 4/1 rate (4 DO follow - 1 NOfollow) because in my niche this is the average rate (you need to analize your competitor's backlink profiles).Do you only buy do follow backlinks or nofollow as well ? If I ask for payed backlinks in my niche most webmasters only want to sell nofollow because they say do follow is against google terms. For example if I ask 10 webmaster maybe only 1 wants to sell do follow :-(. So it' s really hard to get payed backlinks in my niche. How do you handle that in your niche ?
BTW good luck with your journey!
My Link Building Guide
Here we go, I'm writing from my new office in Phuket, here the index of this guide:
1. Link Building: Why do you need it?

4. Where & How to get Backlinks
5. Metrics and Link quality
6. Do Follow vs No follow

1. Link Building: Why do you need it?
Do you want a one word answer? Here you go: "popularity". Popularity is what Google is looking for to organize and reward the results from most important to least important. Your goal is to be (or pretend to be) the most popular among all your competitors. Popularity is something Google can't understand with only content because there isn't accurate or nearly accurate algorithm able to do something like this. Link building will boost your ranking faster and effectively more than any other Seo technique. For sure you need a kickass content able to answer to all user's search intents but from my experience you can rank good & fast with crappy landing pages, this means link building is still the more powerful popularity signal.
That said, when you answer to all search intents and you build quality links, your content will be in almost all SERPs in your niche. Always remember this: 15/20% of Google Searches Have Never Been Made Before, for this reason if you have popularity you'll be in a lot of SERPs without even meaning. You can make estimates and calculations, but there is always an element of unpredictability. For this reason I'm making popular contents even with 500/1000 monthly searches but I know I will get more than this traffic, simply because Google will award my popularity and he will answer with my content to a lot more questions typed in the search box.
2. Topical Trust
If I have a problem with my teeth I will never ask for tips to a mechanic. This is a simple but powerful concept: backlinks from websites in my same niche are the best kind of links my website can get. Trust and Topic are both very important concepts that really make the difference. Generic websites can give you from 0 to 20/25% of juice (purely indicative) but a website with the same topic can give you from 50 to 99% of power. As you can see you will need 4 generic backlinks or only 1 topical backlink, plus with topical backlinks you'll get a lot more trust and if the competition is very strong you'll be awarded better and more by Google.
Topical backlinks will cost you more, will be hard to obtain but I can guarantee that will make a difference. That said, you'll need backlinks from generic topic blogs/websites and in the operative guide I will show you averages and advices.
As general rule every 3 generic backlinks I will obtain 1 topical strong backlink and if isn't strong I will obtain 2 topical backlinks.
3. Anchor text: Why is it so important?
The anchor text strategy can determine the life or death of your link building campaign. Almost all penalties will come from a wrong anchor text strategy (because of the forcing and the balance deficiencies). Anchor text says to Google where your page can rank and reinforces the idea of what it's about the page in question. You need to vary to be natural because it's impossible that all websites will link you with the same anchor text, simply because everyone speak differently, we are all creative in our way and it is impossible that everyone always gives the same definition of an object, you can believe it or not, but to be natural you need to vary. Here few example of anchor text strategy:
Page: mywebsite.com/best-hoverboard-prices-reviews
Focus Keyword: best hoverboards
If from my analysis I need 3 backlinks to be in the first spot of Google (you can do this analysis with Ahrefs) I will provide anchor texts as follows:
1. best hoverboards (on topical strong website)
2. http://mywebsite.com/best-hoverboard-prices-reviews (on generic website)
3. MyWebsite.com (on generic or 50% topical)
If for example I need 10 backlinks I will structure it as follows:
1. 1x best hoverboards (on topical strong website)
2. 3x http://mywebsite.com/best-hoverboard-prices-reviews (on generic website)
3. 2x MyWebsite.com (on generic or 50% topical)
4. 2x MyWebsite (on generic or topical)
5. 1x best hoverboards reviews (on topical)
As you can see you need to go really slow with exact match or partial match keywords. You need to include your website name in your anchor text for brand reputation purposes and anchor variation. The same applies to naked links and all domain variations.
Here an example of a WRONG anchor text strategy:
1. best hoverboards
2. hoverboards prices
3. buy hoverboards
4. hoverboards reviews
5. MyWebsite.com
As you can see there is a good variation, your anchor text aren't always the same, are different. But there is a big big problem, no one will receive all those anchor text because in every industry people are linking a lot of times with brand name in anchor text and in this example you have 80% of exact/partial march anchors. Don't try to work like this, Google will recognize manipulation and this is the worst way to stay under the radar.
That said with the previous example you can rank well and fast but you can have problems with next Google updates and it isn't somehting good for long term businesses. Now let's see who ranks for "best hoverboard"...
![]()
As you can see there aren't exact or partial match keywords, just post's title and URL as anchor text. This is a great anchor strategy and looks so natural that it seems random, this is what I like to create for my websites to rank without problems in future. When you force keywords in anchor text you will be penalized and will be hard to take the first spot of Google, trust me.
4. Where & How to get Backlinks
You "simply" need to contact webmasters and people already working in your industry. Use Facebook groups for generic websites with good metrics (I can advice from 50+ referring domains and without spammy anchors). For topical websites you can have 10+ referring domains too, there is no problem, but don't invest a lot in this kind of backlinks, invest your budget for 100+ strong referring domains websites. In link building social the social engineering makes the difference, tighten relationships will help you to get backlinks. Do in on Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter or Linkedin but do it.
When I want backlinks the first thing I do is choose a big seed website where get data of other websites in my niche that are giving backlinks to this authoritative website. The purpose is to have a list of websites with good metrics to contact for backlinks request. Then I'm sending email asking for "collaboration opportunity", I wait the answer, then I will take agreements to acquire the link. Is really simple, there isn't something magic apart my email. You need to let them know you have budget, in this way they will make you an offer and you can make a counteroffer (I always make a 20% less counteroffer and works in the 80% of cases).
5. Metrics and Link quality
The best link ever you can get has these features in this order:
1. In topic
2. Authoritative root domain
3. Placed in body (no footer, sidebar etc)
4. Backlink given by strong page internally well linked
I know it's really hard say "this is a quality backlink, this is crappy etc", in fact in this in this phase takes over the experience and analysis with tools. Personally I use Ahrefs because is the most complete tool and I find it really great under the intuitiveness point of view.
1. I look at Domain Rating as follows, but don't take these like supreme rules:
From 0 to 30 very low quality website
From 30 to 40 good website but nothing special
From 40 to 50 strong website
From 50 to 60 amazing website
From 60+ you need to invest at least 500 € per link and not always is follow (really strong domains, authoritative in real life too).
2. I look at anchor text profile. I don't want to see spam links and I want to see balanced backlink profile (not only generic website's backlinks). This website will transfer its power to my website, for this I want it's powerful and not crappy.
3. I look at quantity of referring domains. If I've website A with 50 referring domains and website B with 150, most likely website B will be more popular, although we must also analyze the quality of these referring domains especially who is giving Do follow backlinks.
6. Do Follow vs No follow
I made few tests, no follow links don't help directly in ranking but are very important for balancing purposes (every website on the web has no follow backlinks) and contribute to inrease your brand popularity in Google's eyes).
You can buy no follow links for your brand awareness or to directly drive traffic on your website but according to my experience 90% of your budget needs to be spent on strong Do Follow backlinks.
Insert no follow link always in the body of webpages because in comments and similar positions you get ridiculous power (near to zero).
Conclusion
Link building isn't something hard to do, you only need follow these simple rules, have budget and wait 2/3 months before seeing improvements.
If you have any question ask and I will answer, hope you enjoy my guide!
In general, link placed in the comment section have no value. If they are also no follow you can avoid them (can be useful as a traffic source but nothing more). Why don't you just use niche related blog comments or directory links for no follow links so you have more money to put into do follow links
Sure, don't always link your inner pages with the same keyword. Not just for Seo but also for users, they need to be attracted by your links and if they're always the same you get low possibilities of clicks.can you tell something about internal links? Have a same strategy with anchor like in backlinks?
good journey , please anchor text are so important ?
is there a risqk if i use only one keword anchor text for all the backlinks ?
and the keyword used on the backlinks are the same keyword that a site will rank for ?
thank u
Thanks for great guide ! Weird question but are youtube video descriptions a good source for backlinking?
As in relevant videos to a niche?
