Crazy Google Dance In The Last 24 Hours

I think people who have been hit should post their SEO tactics here (web 2.0, PBN, Sape, GSA etc...) plus the age of their website

CRAZY drop here as well... Spanish site, 3 years ranking well. My two main pages (home and a dedicated topic one) have fallen dramatically (+100 spots) on most important KWs BUT they still rank decent (first page) for other terms.

Any idea what this may be? Over optimization for such KWs? It's the only thing I can think of as they've disappeard for some terms but still rank for other related kws.

Good luck!

This all but proves it was a Penguin 4 tweak... Penguin 4 is granular meaning it affects every page and every keyword separately. I called out Johnny M for testing Penguin 4 and making it granular 6 months before it launched (and saying it was nothing). Everyone called me crazy but I was right. What you're describing is 100% a Penguin tweak / update.

By the way. I'm using the worse BH techniques for Xanax in Brazil and Canada. I'm having #1 #3 and #4 easily. Two years ago it would be impossible to outrank Pfizer. Yep... That's Google giving a shit for no Adsense programs and KW related.

Impressive, how long is it taking you to rank in pharma? With what sort of links? 100% PBN, any h4ck3d links? Any gsa spam?

Thanks for the help! If it really is Penguin at least I know where to start...

It's really crazy. Sample of what have occurred is this:

KEYWORDVOLUMEPREVIOUS POSITIONACTUAL POSITION
"windows"HUGE10Gone
"home windows"BIG277
"house windows"MEDIUM39
"house windows reviewer site"LOW23

What do you guys think? Really Penguin? Any advice?

Thanks!

What is the proportion of your anchor text that matches the word "windows" exactly?
Big... I was in the process of diluting anchors. And in those pages' text "window" is appears quite a lot too, as it is hard not to mention it time and time again. There aren't many synonyms for "windows" that I can use.

It makes sense from this post (http://searchengineland.com/google-updates-penguin-says-now-real-time-part-core-algorithm-259302) that is the new Penguin, since Google said v4.0 would be more granular and it hasn't run since Oct. 2014, more or less the date the site started having SEO done on it.

Hope this helps everybody. Let's see if others can confirm similar behaviour.

There you go. It is Penguin related as @yugejackpots said.

Easy solution - disavow enough links with the exact match keyword in so that the proportion of them is roughly equal to that of your competitors. Don't expect too much of a rise in SERPs back to the position you were in though because you will have wiped out quite a number of your links.

Rebuild your profile with brand links and URLs.

From yesterday to today, my website was lost 50% traffic from Google Seach.

Thanks man. I tried diluting before disavowing to avoid telling Google "hey! I'm an SEO", but it seems time has come where I have to disavow links.

Some where done in 2014 by another person and aren't great neither in quality nor anchor text.

Thanks again!

Whatever you do, it is going to take time, a lot of time. My guess is that it has to do with content that is old and outdated.

What kind of keyword is "window" wtf?

And if it is penguin, just work backwards and check what could have harmed your site.
I hope you wrote down every link you built, anchor and when you built it. This way you can easily determine this.

Also, i've not seen any movement in my dating niche. One competitor site dropped to page 2, but he had 301's with K2 articles going through them so i'm not surprised lol.

Based on what? Not being mean, just trying to deeper understand your point of view.

In case it's relevant... This site has been spending ~$3,000/month on AdWords the past few months. It doesn't seem to have helped with trust, etc.

Regards.

"window" is a pseudonym for a keyword that has relative good volume and commissions but not related to anything "dodgy" like pills, etc.

BIG DROPS here for me too, Spanish market, Ebooks, Movies etc..

Trying to understand what is happening.. hope they revert the update.

Sorry for being too bold, but what I meant is that you need to start working for the website to bounce back, but you will need to keep a lot of patience as well. My experience with the last 2 updates Penguin and Panda made me release that come back is not easy and definitely not quickly.
Even my website (1 out of 2) has been hit badly, I really don't understand why (no backlinks, no duplicate content) but I know that come back will take quite some time and a lot of brain storming.

Maybe Google downloaded BHW users email address dump (i've seen it in other topics), and they just began to throw the user associated websites from SERP.

I honestly can't even think of anything funny to respond to this bullshit
--------

listen people, all I see on multiple forums/here that people that are losing positions are:

1) bad anchor
2) no backlinking done
3) being "too whitehat" and believing google crap shit

What is the conclusion from all of this?

a) stop using shitty PBN links and shitty links like directories, your social bookmarks and all that shit
b) be more black hat

im a and b and for now (fingers crossed) both sites are doing usual stuff dance there dance that up and down's so....

Remember guys, google is fucking stupid when it comes to rankings - yea really it is all you have to do is check popular blackhat topics and you will understand that very fast that google indeed is ridiculously stupid and braindead (yea RANK BRAIN MY ASS ) lol

Isn't it a bit suspicious if multiple anchors suddenly change? I mean how often do anchors change?
If it's really a targeted action, google would have a db with a ton of infos on the targeted sites, so you would disclose even more of your network.

Hi,

I did the changes over the last 4 days and had only 30 PBNs pointing to my sites which were changed, so I guess that shouldn't impact much compared to the one who changes hundreds of links a day.

I am on 5th page for most of my money terms now. Hoping it gets back where it was earlier.

How about you?

Google, WHY?
