Case study- SHOPIFY

Hey guys,
I am currently doing a case study on shopify and was wondering if you guys would be able to help.
Shopify is currently wondering how it could make its experience better with aspiring entrepreneurs and how it could be improved.
I found that people on blackhatworld could help me with this question:

"As a member of blackhatworld looking to make money and start a business on SHOPIFY, what is something you wish SHOPIFY had done better in order to facilitate your goal?"

"What should Shopify be doing or building to make it easier for aspirational entrepreneurs to succeed? "

Would really be interested in knowing what you guys thinking, especially people who's had bad experiences in starting a business on the platform

Connect all the niche websites, so the link building is easier. Majority ecommerce sites don't make any single sale because they can't rank even-though the price are decent and have unique products.

So you're saying making it easy to rank, seo and get more traffic?

Make it 5 dollars a month until you hit your first 500 dollars of revenue.

I went for woo because I knew it meant I had more time to learn and develop my skills without pissing away 30 dollars a month on a non profitable site.

You had more time to learn with woo but dont you have to pay monthly for that too? As in hosting and for the website itself? So wouldnt it be the same thing at the end?

I hate shopify! Monthly subscripton, ok fine but every frikking useful plugin needs a subscription on top of subscription.

Switched too WP and Woo.

So your only concern is basically the subscription being expensive?

Not the shopify perse but the plugins.

yea but WP and WOO require a lot more knowledge in coding and stuff like that, just harder for a noob

WP and Woo does not require any knowledge of coding. Literally, you just add products, connect a payment gateway and sell. There are more moving parts for sure, but you don't have to write any code. I like Woo because you can have a simple store or bunch customizations. You can write your own plugins for it if needed.

Shopify is nice platform because it just works. IMO it's basic, but perfect for someone starting out.

You can register a domain and get hosting for 1 year with NameCheap for about $30 USD. That's basically the same price as Shopify except Shopify is monthly.

I much prefer WordPress and WooCommerce because it's more customizable than Shopify and I don't have to pay those monthly fees.

talking about you being a member here since 2014 and having a few posts and all, you seem to be pretty knowledgable in what is going on and how to use them, I am just going to assume as a conclusion for now that Shopify is a lot more expensive but a lot easier to setup and process?

Basically, yes.

Shopify is noob-friendly and you can set up a basic looking site very fast without any technical knowledge. WordPress is also noob-friendly but has a steeper learning curve and will take a lot longer to set up a site.

The problem is though many people just set up their sites too basic looking with only 5 products or so and no text or essential pages on the site. Then they wonder why they don't get any sales.

They would have to be equal or better than the WordPress + WooCommerce combo.

That means no monthly fees, more customizable options and functionality, better themes, etc.

Nah, my hosting is only about £8 a month and I already had it from a separate project. With my £8 hosting I can open as many woo stores as I want with the only additional cost being about £10 per domain name

Nope, it is exactly the same as with shopify, you just need to put the correct settings as shopify basically is WP.

If I had to say a positive thing about shopify is that they have excellent customer service it's too bad that plugin developers sucking the life out of people asking crazy monthly subscriptions for basic plugins.

You guys are saying that basic plugins cost money on shopify and are free on wordpress
could you give me two-three of thosep plugins that you are talking about?
