What is needed from a graphic designer

Hey guys,

I need unique logo for my company. When I hire a graphic designer what should I ask for regarding files and to make sure the logo is unique and not against any logo trademark. Is there a way to make sure the logo isn't copied and really unique?

for logo... ask all source psd / ai / cdr / png or others.
for trademark.. create jpg logo and upload to google image search.. much better upload each part your logo..

Does any one use shutter stock? I saw a logo on their that I like and I can edit it to my liking. Will this logo be mine and trademarked if I buy? Can I use it on my brand?

You can use tineye.com and google reverse image search to search the web and see if there are any logos that look too much like the one delivered.

suggestion for you, just grab that image and modify.. change color position curve and others..
SS is marketplace for graphic design.. each designer i think never register their image for trademark..
so.. if you use image from SS and you make trademark patent with that, you win...

Thanks for that! I really just need some clipart in black and white. I like this clipart on SS but if I modify it and download it... it's $200 bucks. Is there a website where I can pretty much make my own clipart like this design on SS? Thanks

if only clipart, download jpeg with watermark from SS page..
use vector magic and convert to ai or svg format.. then edit with adobe or corel..
if don't have time for that, fiverr is my answer for cheap service..

Ask for main ai file including all vectors. Google reverse image search is a good way to find similar images.

Or, if you know what you like then find a designer on Fiverr or Upwork, show them the image and what you're thinking of and then ask for 2 variations. Make sure you discuss costs for editing as well.

Once you have what you like then get the .ai file or layered psd file.

HINT: If getting a .ai file be sure they outline everything so you can edit it easier - especially fonts.
