Hey, I am new to expired domain and i am wondering what are your strategies for finding the right domain. I just found an expired domain with a lot of backlinks but I am not sure how to analyze. Would you please guide me?
All inputs are greatly appreciated

You need to check lots of things and need to have access on few tools. My go to tools are -

1. Majestic - You can use AHREFS also but i prefer to use Majestic here for back link analysis.
2. OSE from Moz - You need to check DA PA and link also.
3. Web Archive - You need to check the domain past history.

And if you like to read please check these thread -

However, there are lots of factors to analyze. Here are few that explained in short. While evaluating expired domain,
  • You need to look for general domain metrics (PR, DA, PA, CF, and TF) and domain name.
  • Analyze majestic stats (backlink numbers and breakdown, Anchors data, pages of the site)
  • Analyze the history and WHOIS history of the expired domain
  • Analyze Google results that mean to check whether there are some results are showing up when you search for “site: domain name.”

Analyzing General Domain Metrics & The Domain Name
Check the Majestic Stats
Check the Majestic Backlinks Numbers and Backlinks Breakdown,Anchors Data
Check the Moz Stats
Analyze The History Of The Expired Domain
Analyzing The WHOIS History Of The Expired Domain
Check The Google Result of The Domain

Check the number of referring domains and the quality and authority of these domains. Check for previous uses of such a domain and if had spam either on page or through backlinks. After that, check majestic and moz metrics.

If you found unregistered domain, pretty much without much effort, that has a lot of referring domains, I can assure you, it's not registered for a reason.

Anything with half decent backlinks and RD30+ and TF10+ for example, that can be freely found online, is in 98% of the cases penalized. So rather than checking the backlink profile, you should first determine whether the domain is clean or not. After that you can move to thorough analysis of the profile. However, if it indeed is clean and has decent amount of backlinks, you should register it regardless of how amazing the backlinks are. Domains with high RD do not appear clean too often and you should seize the opportunity.

Still, that domain is most likely penalized or utter crap. One or the other.

that are my conclusion too.
higher RD correlates with higher spam, too...

at least check the backlinks T1 and t2 with ahrefs.

"you should first determine whether the domain is clean or not"

So ... this isn't the same as checking the historical backlink profile in Ahrefs, Majestic or other tool?

How do we tell if a domain is "clean"?

Thanks for Information :)
