Yeah I would like to tell you my story.
I was chatting with one of my closest friends during a summer trip. He told me that he didn't take out a loan to pay for his degree. He was a CS major and paid for his education with monetize sites that he created and internships during his breaks.
I was ignorant, wondering how a person was able to earn revenue with just a website. He showed me one of his websites and explained the whole concept of monetization and passive income. I was seriously interested and wanted to create my own website.
Last February, I was up all night, talking to my friend and asking what theme to create for my first monetized website. We thought of a few ideas. Finally, I though of one theme for the site. He was seriously laughing after that idea but it might work, considering how popular it was.
I created the website, modified some layouts and CSS and I launched it. The tough part was to bring in traffic.
I created a Twitter, Reddit account, and FB page that reroutes traffic to my main site. The first month I earned about 2 dollars. Not much but for me, I was stoked, considering I have never made money online before. Next month it quadrupled then it was getting better and better and the months went on. I think the most I have made in one month was more than $250.
So to conclude this story, making my monetized site was a struggling journey at first. After the hours of content, updates and networking, I saw the increase in income on this site. Nothing spectacular but for me being that this was my first time. I was stoked! I connected with people that were genuinely interested in that niche, contributing to that community and being known out there when you have a following.
