He cannot search without a warrant. He can say he smell weed, but he needs a dog for that.
I know someone who has 'fart spray' in car in case he stopped by a cop... .

Actually he didn't get what he deserved because he didn't do anything wrong, the article mentions further down how he was being followed by 8-10 persons that were surrounding him and he had to try to defend himself.

It was thugs attacking a government official because someone parked illegally, just like speeding is illegal. Should people go attack cops because they were speeding?
Cruise control is pretty much standard on all vehicles now, signs are also easy to see. Speeding tickets should be a rarity these days.
