So apparently you really can make a buck with Instagram..

is Instagram any good for promoting software products/apps? I feel like its always just the tangible goods that I hear about doing well on there

I sell an intangible promoted on IG

Unless you are talking about my crusty thongs....

But the store I am promoting on IG is actually for an intangible. So far, I'm shocking pleased.

How do you advertise on instagram mate. Just post photos of your products?

No. I post stolen photos that have something to do with my niche. Then I write something akin to a blog post on the topic. Sometimes I make it a bit controversial. Sometimes I make it like a Q&A.

I think that just posting photos of your product is really f'ing boring. Unless your products are spy planes, finishing dynamite, or shit stained thongs.

But that's just me, and what do I know? I'm just a grouchy old man that is convinced that he can sell his undies on the inter web.

Sorry for being a bit old fashion, what do 'stolen photos' mean? And how do you make 'stolen photos' 'a bit controversial'. Sorry if I am not following your drift here.

And wouldn't 'stolen photos' which I assume you are meant to say 'photos without copyright', tear down your account?

I'm an IG idiot. If you need an expert, that ain't me. But here's what I do:

I find a photo on Google that is related to my niche. I then flip the image, resize it, add text to it, and put a filter on it. Voila! My new "stolen" image.

The photos usually aren't controversial. Sometimes they are a bit, but usually not. The text that I write may be controversial though.

Want an example? Let's say that my store sells refrigerators. Boring as shit right? Let's make it fun.

I find an image on Google of a melted tub of ice cream. I resize it, flip it, put a filter on it, and add the text "WTF!!!!!"

Under the image that I post I write a couple hundred words "post". I tell the story of poor Amy. Her mother used all of the family's saved money to play bingo instead of buying a nice and new refrigerator. Now the family is deep in bingo debt, the car got impounded, and worse yet: all of Amy's ice cream melted! What would you say to your mom if you were in Amy's shoes? Would you blame her for finding a new mom that didn't let her ice cream melt?

Or something like that. You get the point, right?

Exactly what happened to me. I've been doing IG+CPA for a few year and now I'm doing IG+eComm and it's real good traffic. They convert well. All sales I've received through Instagram have been of high value, $50 or more. If only more people realized how good IG really is for marketing.

I'm about to get off my tight wallet and test some ad spend on IG.

But I am also addicted to "free" traffic.

IG traffic is very good for converting real products/services, at least from my experience.

I've been in the game for a while, and I still firmly believe that Instagram's traffic is of the highest quality if you know how to properly monetize your audience. The engagement you receive on Instagram is unreal.

Since you are in the game for a while, can you confirm my assumption? I observed that almost all young people stopped using facebook and switched to instagram. I think Instagram will be the Facebook of some years ago. Smart move of FB to acquire Instagram. Chess moves right here.
