yeah. that fucked 2 of my sites up....
its a PITA to fix that on page...
my advice. try to make tham as "natural" as it sounds.

That's a screenshot from Majestic I just took. 10%, 9% and 8% are my main keywords. The keywords I took out are branded or naked url keywords.

One thing to mention is that my 10% keyword with "test" at the end is like "gardening tools test" (just an example). The 9% keyword would than be "gardener tools" and the 8% keyword "gardening tools" (the same as the 10% keywords just without test). Not to mention the pbn posts I send to that page that are not even showing up on Majestic. You can easily increase each of those 3 numbers by 4%. Not all of those links were built by me or the services I used. Therefore I guess it was a bitch move of a competitor as many EM links appeared as soon as I started to rank on page 1 for the main keywords. I already submitted a disavow file with a huge amount of links to disavow that should significantly lower that number for google, but that didn't help yet.

phhbuilt advice is to lower density, and or build now offpage links. you would need at least 1:10, exact : naked/generic.

sadly, those two things are combined in wp (if you dont use a plugin).

Why do you think this? I have a clear structure in my WP and everything is shown correctly. Title is H1 and rest is H2, H3 etc. Sometimes I remove the auto title insertion from the Theme and add my own H1.

Btw. I found a very old site of mine wich I forgot and it does not show up anywere in the serps. I just checked KW density and was shocked. 7.5% is a bit high Will change that and report back what happened.

Just checking my front page. I had 0,5% KW density in the content. I upped that to 1.2% wich seems like a good value. The keyword comes up about 15 times in an 1300 word article. I have an EMD. Now I just checked my source code and am shocked. Alone because of the EMD the main KW comes up 120 times with www. domain. com/wp-content/image.jpg etc.. Since I used the keyword in urls of the subpages the kw comes up to 170 times in the source code. I am not sure but I guess google can handle this and knows whats going on? Since its an EMD.

and to be honest, I would stay away of using keywords in Hs until I get stable rankins.

also, btw: that also some reason why some 1995 Sites still rank out there. cause they did not went into the "CMS" fuckup phase..

I think you have just identified my problem. In the paths of getting to the appropriate keyword density, I used my main keyword in the H2 tags a lot. And it seems that is the reason why my ranking went down few spots.

lesson learned: as part of defucking a page, you need to make sure that you dont over do your H tags with your keywords

@darulez, a good density may vary depending of total words onpage. Few words means higher densities accepted.

Sometimes lowering your densities may get you losing ranks. I can show you pages ranking with 4-5%.

but overall you are right, if you feel that you have a penalty, the best idea is to lower your densities.
