Is Facebook lying about paid advert performance?

Some scandals in other cases (not FB) took 5 to 6 years to come out cuz finally one big advertiser proved it and went public.

Heck : car makers were cheating the emissions system for a decade and nobody knew. Because home owners do'nt know how to check.

99% of webmaters are using wix or tumblr or facebook pages they have no means to measure anything. They can't read an access log to save their lives.

I posted just days ago about how the "invite" people to like your page button on posts is placebo. On one particular post with over 17K likes, I invited over 1000 people manually, not bot, and got ZERO response......not ONE new like????The I buy one $ dollar in boost and get 100 new likes???? WTF???? It's 100% pay to play.

FB is playing lots of games and their profits are skyrocketing. Because 99% of the webmasters paying them to play have no idea.

Yeah I get the feeling that Facebook are taking advantage of peoples naivety. I mean, about a year ago I tried another project and ran campaigns to get likes to my page, which cost £1 per like ...

I guess one issue could be that people trust FB and other big companies too much to suspect them of cheating, added to what you said and they can get away with it.

1000 invites and zero response is hard to believe. makes me think now that something is up.

This is exactly right, wonder how many companies are throwing thousands at facebook believing it's the holy grail of marketing and just not checking because " it's facebook"

wonder what BTBs input is on this since i heard he uses facebook for marketing. if he has any concerns that facebook is selling him short on ads, i heard the money he puts into Fb is definitely not wasted but still.

I've just recently finished a campaign for one of money sites. Pathetic results compared to two years ago, not one lead. But the same advert a two years, about 20 times the engagement...

I just find it astounding that from group posting (with 5 accounts for 1 day) I got 11k reach, compared to the ad I ran I got 2k reach.

Its not surprising that FB are clamping down on fake accounts so hard.

I'm running a Facebook ad as we speak, attempting to drive traffic to my website and an article I've wrote.

According to the stats, my ad has had over 40 people clicking on it which should take them to my website to read the article, now as I'm running the Facebook Like Jacker plugin I should have therefore seen over 40 new likes to my FB page as a result of these clicks (I have the settings set to Like-Jack 100% of visitors). However, I've only had about 15 likes on my Facebook page so far...

What's your opinion on this?

I don't believe that over 25 people clicked my article then backed away from being like-jacked, there's no reason for that to happen as I've made the like-jacking look as natural as possible. I also don't believe the problem is Like-Jacker itself, I've got over 500 likes on the page as a result of it.

Is Facebook exaggerating the amount of clicks my ad has received possibly?

PS: My objective isn't to gain likes for the page, I'm merely using this as a KPI to assess how many people are reading the article - and yes, I use Bitly to track clicks on my links etc etc.

There is a difference between ''clicks'' and ''link clicks''. Which metric are you referring to? Facebook has different stats for both.

For the record all I've said on this thread is about 100% legit and relatively high spending accounts...no fakes....all identified, etc...

The ROI simply isn't there any more. FB is doing all it can so people stay in FB and never click through.

Facebook wants to be the internet, they want everything done through them, I'm the sort of user they hate, I log in do what I have to then log out, about a minute on the site

Facebook puts in a confirm button on the page.

Once user clicks there comes a small popup ontop with a "confirm" button. Its random and fucks up the conversion

Yeah it must only show up to about half of the people who do it, I got about 30 likes from 60 odd visits so that makes sense! Will switch it off today because I should have got at least 1 conversion...


Yeah I know bro, but I made the 'object' look believable as fuck, my pop up says "our website uses cookies, by closing this box you agree to using cookies", or something like that. So in my opinion 95% of traffic should click to close the box, rather than return to the previous page!

I don't need these likes anyway so I'm just going to turn it off for the time being.

There is a difference between ''clicks'' and ''link clicks''. Which metric are you referring to? Facebook has different stats for both.

The metric is Link Clicks mate - and that's Facebooks terminology
